We will begin your journey from Negombo and we shall first take you to Sigiriya which is one of the most interesting creations made by mankind. The ancient, cultural and technological values were the utmost reason that made Sigiriya the ninth wonder of the world. Constructed by the ancestors of the country to serve as nothing but a huge rock fortress, the stone resembles how engineering advanced the culture has been. Not only the fortress, there are many other important places that surrounds the location. Pidurangala and the traditional village are important points in the list. You are bound to a pretty tired day with all the climbing and walking and hence you get the chance to relax with the views of the paddy fields and the wonderful environment for the night at Sigiriya.
On our second day after having breakfast we will move to Anuradhapura, a splendid city of ancient architecture. The first urbanization in Sri Lanka is reflected in Anuradhapura. this is proved by ancient historical sources such as Mahawanshaya. The city of Anuradhapura was built by king Pandukabaya who was a great leader and a warrior which was later developed by his successors. In Anuradhapura you will be able to visit and worship Buddhist religious places including the temples such as Ruwanweliseya, Samadhi Buddha statue etc, and ancient sacred Bo-tree, royal palaces, hospitals, ponds such as Kuttam pokuna and Anuradhapura museum. After having an exhausted day, we return back to hotel in Sigiriya to have some rest.
After having breakfast in Sigiriya we will move to Polonnaruwa which was created by king Vijayabahu. South-east Asian characteristics could prominently be seen in some of the art works created during Polonnaruwa era. In Polonnaruwa era there was a successful irrigation system and well-developed art and architecture. During your travel you will be able to visit the ancient Buddhist temples, royal palaces, ponds, and amazing constructions such as Satmahal Prasadhaya, seven storey palace of king Parakramabahu, Lankathilaka image house etc After our awesome travel we will rest in a cosy hotel in Polonnaruwa.
Kandy, well it is our next destination from Polonnaruwa which is a splendid city depicting the real Sri Lankan culture and its religious ethics. Moreover, you can witness it is sacred value in this journey. The temple of tooth relic is worship by all local and foreign Buddhist. It is a place of site seen and tourist attraction as well. Now you have got a charm mind with religion and now it is walking around the city, you can roam around old streets and shop as much as you want. And also, at the evening you will be able to witness the most endemic plant species in Sri Lanka in Peradeniya Botanical garden and a mouth-watering Sri Lankan dinner in Kandy.
On our fifth day we will visit Nuwara Eliya from Kandy which is the most beautiful and most attractive mountain region in Sri Lanka. It is the coolest region in Sri Lanka. You will be able to visit a large number of waterfalls including Devon fall, St Clair’s fall, Mohini fall and many more. And also, you will be going to see some tea estates and tea factories. Remember you will definitely see the world’s end in Horton plain and also different kinds of plants and animals and some of those species are endemic to Sri Lanka. Finally, you can visit the Gregory lake to have a swan boat ride and to taste some local strawberries. You can end your tired day having a hot cup of tea with a nice dinner and comfy sleep.
In the morning we will visit Haggala botanical garden which consists of various kinds of plants species. From Nuwara Eliya we will next would be heading to Ella. We will be having a little hiking in the Little Adams peak, no worries it will not be tough. Well, this is a small mountain with beautiful natural vegetation and fresh air. The area is filled with sites that are beyond the explanation of words when it comes to the beauty. The nine arch bridges is another one of the prettiest and the most famous tourists’ sites in the country. You can relax at the end of the day at a cool comfy hotel room with a mind – blowing view across the greenery. Make sure you prepare for the next two days because they are going to be pretty adventurous.
From Ella we directly move towards Tissamaharama in southern province which will definitely make you feel like moving from too cold to hot. Tissamaharama is an area that is considered sacred by Buddhist and Hindu devotees. If you have pretty good taste buds, you will be able to taste some of the best curd ever from this area. Despite the sunny weather, the area is filled with adventurous activities. The Tissamaharama lake and the sacred temples as well as many other trips awaits you in here. The fifth day will be spent at Tissamaharama for you to prepare for the safari of your life.
Yala Let we save our final day to have a camping with the wildlife of the country. A tour through Yala will provide you with the opportunity to become the part of the nature and witness the beauty of fauna and flora that is inherent to the area. Leopards are the most famous animals in the Yala national park but you will be able to see many animals such as elephants and deer. There are large amounts of birds found in the area, both inherent and immigrant. The Yala Lake provides you with the opportunity to enjoy the view of animals living their calm, peaceful lives. After the safari we will drop you off back from Negombo.
